Scott's Thoughts

August 30, 2008- This is a huge game because it is the next game. Both teams are desperate for a win and need to get back to the winning ways. All we need to do is stay composed and do our individual jobs and we will win. There is no question that we have to execute and take advantage of our outstanding home field advantage.

SS

August 20, 2008- Vacation is over!! Time to get back to work. The troops are rested and ready to get back to our winning ways. Ricky Ray and the shmoes are putting up huge offensive numbers, but I feel our D is up for the challenge. All we have to do is get the offence the ball and we do that with 2 and outs!

SS

July 27, 2008- Kerry is back...I would like to think of it as Kerry's on his back!!!  Look for the d-line to rally!! This is going to be a breakout week for the line. Not in the way you would think. We will keep the QB contained and that is the key to T.O.'s success!

SS

July 12, 2008- Last week was a real character win!  The defense ground it out all game and the Offence dominated the third quarter!

This week is another chance to prove we are for real and will propel us closer to the Grey Cup by winning a tough game on the road!  We have to keep #28 in check and get after the QB.

SS

June 27, 2008- The 2008 season is here!!!  The real bullets are flying and the blood counts for something!!  I am anxious to test out my new wheels (285lbs, down form 310lbs).  Also of note:  Check out how the Defense gets to the football!!  Coach Etch (New this season), his been beating it into our brains on how we have to make a habit of getting 12 guys to the ball and treating the ball as if it contains all that is dear and important to our existence!!  I feel good baby!!  Remember this, yesterday, don't mean shit!! The day we have to face is tomorrow.

June 12, 2008- Camp has gone by quickly!  The young pups are diligently studying and trying to get last minuet info so they can go out and make this team!!  Preseason is always the calm before the storm of the regular season when the REAL BULLETS start flying!!  I cant wait to get going on that front.  I am the old war bird on the D-Line this year and I like it, I feel like I am ready to be shot out of a cannon on June 28th!!!  I can almost taste the blood!

November 16th- Another familiar game and place, BC Place. There are a lot of us that have experience at this venue and in this game.

The Western Final is like an old friend. But now its time to sever this tie and make a new friend...let me introduce you to my new buddy the Grey Cup!!

Our focus is deeply entrenched in every grizzly vet on this team.  With the growth and experiences we've had this year everybody is a veteran of the CFL Wars of '07!!

We are aching to get over this obstacle in our path. Look for a high emotion slug fest that should burn down to the wire.

SS

November 6th- The western semi final!  A familiar game for us, but an unfamiliar place!  That's right folks a home playoff game its a big deal for everyone.

Big Bank Hank is hell bent on getting a win. Remember this, he can be rattled but only when we get to him. So as our pass rush goes is how Hank will go. The other point of focus is making the Stamps one dimensional. That means shutting down Mr. Reynolds. When they have been successful they are multi dimensional which gives them a lot of flexibility.

Remember that we have beaten them twice this year and I think we know what it takes to defeat this team.

Hope you tune in or show up, I know we will!

SS

October 21st- Back to back. Its a big deal. There is going to be some bad blood for sure. We have to stay focused on getting a win and not the playoffs. Hamilton showed they can hang with us. We have to show that we can put a team away.

SS

October 13th- Well this game is a telling one. A game that we are supposed to win, but its against a team that has nothing to lose. DANGEROUS!!

The way I see it this could be our toughest challenge yet. The Tabbies record is NOT an indicator of how good a team they can be. They have a lot of athletism and are physical in the trenches.

We have to show up in a big way to win this game. Look for all kinds of trickery and skullduggery form the Cats to spark there team.

SS

October 7th- Well the one thing that I can say is we have NOT forgotten our last trip to calGARY!  We got back on track last week and its time to show that we can take to the road and win!

#21 is gonna get a lot of work if we don't shut him down. He is a big part of there production if he gets rolling. He is the only back this year to rush over 100yrds on our D this year. We have to give him some respect, but with that comes an intensity and focus that will allow us to shut him down.

This is a big deal game and we hope all Rider faithful who can be in Cow Town will come out to support us and will show up in a big way.

SS

September 27th- This game is a big one for us. Not because we've lost 3 in a row, but because it is the next game. We play to win...but the other guys get paid to. The week of practice was great and everybody seems to be ready. This weekend we just have to execute in all 3 phases of the game. Coach Austin says we can only control 2 things; our preparation and or effort level. Trust me, we all believe it!
SS

September 22nd- No matter how you look @ it this game is going to be a defining precursor to how this team finishes this season. #7 is improving and is a big threat with his legs. We must control 1st down so we can get to the QB like the old days. #33 is going to test this plan. He is the key. If we shut him down we will win this game. Sold out. It don't get much better.
SS

September 14th- The Stamps are talking all kinds of CRAP!  Talking about a guaranteed victory!?!  All I can say is watch, just watch what's gonna take place. SS

September 8th- Well, its 5:58am and we are about to board a plane to WPG. Lots of people are talking about a let down, as if splitting the series is acceptable. BS, coach Austin has all the boys fired up and ready to go!

It is gonna be tough but hey, what game on the road isn't?  We are treading into hostile territory!  The thing is you have to be focused and block all the distractions, like the fans that will be call me a fat pig! But that is the great thing about the CFL, the fans love of their team and show their hatred of any body else!

SS

September 4th- WOW!!

Things have sure been crazy around here in more ways then one!  I am a brand new daddy, an almost brand new home owner and we won the fabled "Labour Day Classic!"  Life is great, the only thing that could possibly top my already blessed life is a a Grey Cup VICTORY!!

WPG came to play.  I have to say that I am so thankful to our offence for having the "D's" back and taking that game away from the Bombers.  They are so talented and it was for sure an exiting display of football.  NOTE:  The Bombers are the real deal.  They have a great team and these 2 games could definitely be a preview of some post season folk lore to be!!

It is going to be an interesting week of prep, we have a some things we NEED to work on, on the D side of the ball and be rest assured that Richie Hall, Ron Estay and Alex Smith will have. . ."some encouraging coaching tactics" so we can lock down the Bombers O.

SS

August 2nd - A lot is being said in the media by the Lions about the Riders. Especially about Fred Perry. Note to Lions; BAD IDEA!  All we have to worry about is us. If we play together and for each other victory will be ours.

SS

Friday July 27th - We need to come out and make big plays. Its that simple. You just gotta want it more than the guy across from you. Its gonna come down to who wants it more.
SS

Wednesday July 25th - Losing by 1 point. . .I can't even explain how terrible that is. When you have a 20 point lead you have to be able to protect it.

Give Edmonton credit, they proved there quality by battling back and finding a way to win at home. That is exactly what we have to do this Saturday at all costs, find a way to win at home!!

After we get our game plan and watch the films (I already did, TWICE) we'll talk before Sat.

SS

Friday July 13th - Dave Dickenson, that will be the story of the BC Lions, he will take them as far as his play will allow.  The challenge for this Rider D is to get to him relentlessly until the final gun goes.  There will be a couple of big plays from Paris and G-roy but David is the key!

The Rider O will keep the D off the field giving us valuable rest so when we get in we are fresh and able to keep pounding the QB.  Watch the match up of WR and DBs it will be an exciting deal on both sides of the ball.

SS

Sunday July 8th - It is going to be a battle of the big boys that will decide this one.  With Calgary playing all its starters we'll see if they can mount a running attack.  They have one of the best RB's in the CFL and when Calgary has a running game it takes the pressure off of Henry to be the sole hero.

Plan of attack?  Dommo the LOS [LINE OF SCRIMMAGE] and shut down the run.  This will put the pressure on Henry to win this game himself and there in-lies how we will win, as a team, not as on individual putting the game on his back.

SS

Friday June 29th - Scott Schultz thoughts and views on the game tonight:

Well, an old Rider coach is at the helm of MTRL's offence.  Should be a dozy, lots of "up mic" Kenton Keith's famous favourite running play for Rider days gone by.

When we get to the QB look for MTRL to start to slide protect in an attempt to buy AC some time, but with Freddy P and the KJ coming off the edge I don't think its gonna help.

Chunko & Schultze, the start of something?!?  I think so, Chunk knows what he is doing and is quick of the ball.  I will do as per usual and hold down the "A" gap so the Reggie and the rest of the Lb's can get to the ball.  Look for sacks outta me in the late 3rd and 4th qtr.  Gonna wear those boys down!!

"Make know mistake, its not revenge we're after, its a reckonin!!"
